Alexandros C. Samaras was educated at Athens College, Amherst College and the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He worked and taught in USA and UK before he established 'Alexandros C. Samaras & Associates, Architects-Engineers-Consultants' in Athens, Greece (1976). The firm specializes in architectural design services focusing on high-end residential, retail, office, hospitality, education, culture and business premises.

In 2019 Alexandros joined the Board of Directors of Orilina Properties REIC and was elected President of the Hellenic Harvard Foundation. Previously, he had been the chair of the Board of Directors of Athens College/HAEF (2006-2017), following terms as director and vice-chair (1986-2006). He is the president of the Benaki Phytopathological Institute (2003-todate). Offices held include founding president of the Harvard Club of Greece, member of the Athens '96 Olympic Bid and member of the Dean's Advisory Resource Council, Harvard GSD (1993-2000). His book "Bridging Traditions" was published in November 2019
